I have purchased a few Ayurvedic cookbooks, and have mixed reviews, but generally they can be rather complex from their tone to their recipes so that becomes off putting.But this book: Eat, Feel, Fresh is remarkable in its simplicity making understand of and cooking with Ayurvedic principles easy and doable.The book is well written, filled with stunning photography and serves are both a guide to Ayurveda and a cook book beginning with some useful resources including a guide to Ayurveda, a resource to discovering your Dosha which is important as each one - Vata, Pitta or Kapha, tends to tie into how and what you should eat. This is followed by a guide to how to eat the Ayurvedic way and the basics to stocking your kitchen to prepare for the recipes that follow.The recipe section is divided into 6 district chapters: Breakfast (for your Dosha), Six taste bowls. Tridoshic dinners, snacks and sides; Desserts and potions such as golden milk or green juice. I particularly love the section on the bowls as after a day at work this is an easy way to throw together a dish that is high in nutrients and quick in prep time. I also really like that fact that these serve one, as you can make as few or many as you want following the basic template. The Thai one is amazing with the warm peanut sauce and uses easy to source ingredients. I am excited to try the Tempeh Tikka next as Tikka was one of my favorite dished growing up in the UK but always with chicken, so this way I get to try a vegan version.Another stand out are the dips - how many vegan books have the same old Guac or plain hummus (which is not exactly "new" ) but this one has Tandoori Cauliflower dip, ginger edamame hummus and avocado tahini dip...excited for these new options. There are also some lovely dished that will lend well to Fall / Winter like a vegan version of Shepherds Pie; the traditional Kitchari which I have made many times but this book offers versions tailored to your Dosha with different additions such as Kale or squash; and some great soups and curries. The desserts also look amazing and different such as Chocolate Bark made with chickpeas and a version of peanut butter cups made with Chai or "Golden Mylk" .On a great note, there is not a call for crazy, complex indients - so a trip to any grocery store will do. And the recipes are easy to follow, which means I will use them time and time again as the one thing I never have enough of is time and hours in the kitchen is not for me.In short, this book makes Ayurvedic cooking easy ,simple to follow, delicious and yes, contemporary. The best Ayurvedic book I own!

I was vegan for YEARS, then switched it up to keto, and something wasn't right. It wasn't that it was meat or plants, but finding Sahara's first book, The Idiot's Guide to Ayurveda and then this one... finally led me back to enjoying more plants as a diet staple again!Fussy recipes drove me away from a plant-based diet, but this one helped bring back all the green (and all the other colors too) goodness. The recipes are simple to make, and most of the ingredients are ones I'm familiar with.Also, the book is just gorgeous. When I received it, I enjoyed an evening on the couch devouring the stories and pictures. If you're plant-based or even if you just want to find some new ways to love veggies again -- this book is IT!

Seriously buying this book for family members now that I know how valuable it is! This book is so beautiful it doesn't feel like a jaded cookbook. The recipes are very simple and explain why each recipe is beneficial for your body, mind, or spirit. There is a wealth of knowledge in this book and I can't wait to share. Upon receiving this book I skimmed the pages to see if there was something I could make last night with stuff I had on hand that would give me a satvic sweet taste as I am on my mooncycle and long and behold I found the adaptogenic fudge that took me less than 5 mins to make and in 30 mins in the freezer I was tasting delicious fudge. Bravo, Bravo, Bravo to the author Sahara! She has changed the game with sharing Ayurveda with the world. Thank you for getting that simplicity is everything:-)

Edited to include my review after reading it cover to cover -- This is a beautiful book. The design is stunning and Saharas language is accessible and to the point. Im confused by some of the terminology that's used describing Ayruveda and food. For example. Sahara related food to having a vibrational frequency (redundant) related to bioelectricity. Not sure if she knows what bioelectricity is because it seems to not be used in the right way here. The reason I say that is because she talks about vibration related to abstract energy whereas bioelectricity isn't abstract. See photo. That's my main problem with Ayruveda is they use terms that aren't necessarily being used in the right way so not sure if it's to sound more sciency? I do like how the vibration discussion helps to give a "why" for good habits. However this easily falls into the appeal to nature logical fallacy. Doesn't mean she's wrong just means the argument isn't very good. I highly recommend this book though as it doesn't focus on calories or macros but rather whole foods. Also doesn't treat everyone the same. Some will find the repetition (i.e. so many sweet potato recipes) overwhelming or bleh but it also gives many ideas to a typically not eaten good (i.e. cauliflower). Ive been implementing some of the practices and have noticed my digestion getting better.Having first gotten it -- This book is absolutely stunning. Firm cover, thick but not too thick pages. I'm a fan of a sturdy cookbook cause this thing will get USED. Been reading through the beginning parts and I LOVE how informative yet relatable this book is. Not overwhelming with info either. I feel I can access Ayurvedic information easily through this cookbook and implement it in ways I couldn't before. So happy Sahara put her heart and soul into this - you can tell. Definitely a book I'll use for the rest of my life. Can't wait to implement more of the recipes. I've seen many shared on her IG and they look easy to make, not too complex and best of all - delicious!
