There are times that as an avid reader you come across a book that you know you’ll remember for a long time. This is one of those.The story of Torque Baxter and Cassidy Kimball started over 10 years ago. They met in HS and the attraction was immediate. She was a couple of years older, from a wealthy family , while he was from the wrong side of the tracks and a talented mechanic. But one night changed their lives forever. Sacrifices were made for love , sending an innocent young man to jail for 10 years.Cassidy’s guilt has made her the woman she is today.What happens from the moment he is out of jail to the end will be a rollercoaster of heartbreaking moments that will make your heart ache and the tissue box a necessity. But in the end , will they go their separate ways once again sacrificing their love, or will they finally reach their HEA?This engaging story with it’s complex characters is one not to be missed. I can’t wait to see what else this very talented author has in store for us.I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Torque was just releases from prison after serving a ten year sentence for vehicular homocide that he didn’t commit. Cassidy his teenage crush is there to meet him but he knows he will never be good enough for the rich girl he once knew and has always loved so he sends her away. He just wants to get home and find a job working on diesel truck and just maybe one day own his own shop. Cassidy was the one driving that night and wanted to come clean but Torque would not let her he just wanted to protect her so for the past ten years she has devoted herself to serving others and now has adopted a son and is trying to adopt his younger twin sisters. She wants to adopt them with Torque but since he was recently released from prison they will not be approved. Can they stay together and complete their family or will they have to go their separate ways? Wonderful story well written and great characters.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was such a touching story. The author has created very good and strong characters that make it so easy for the reader to glide into the story. This was not an everything is rosy kind of tale, but involves some very real issues that our society as a whole faces in its' populace. However, the writer has taken that situation and created a book that is heartbreaking, beautiful and so very touching. This is the first book in a new series by Ms. Gussman and I am anxious to read the next story, although this can definitely be a stand alone story. This is a beautifully written romance story.It's an emotional rollercoaster ride to love.Cassidy stands outside of the prison waiting for Torque to come out.She's afraid Torque hates her.He took the blame and spent ten years in prison for something she did. When he walks out he thinks his eyes are playing tricks on him.What's she doing here. Cassidy says hi Torque?He asks what she's doing there?When she says she's his ride he says Tough is supposed to pick him up.She tells him she told him she would pick him up.He tells her no hel l take the bus.Cassey tries to get him to talk to her the bus pulls up an he gets on it.So Cassidy cries all the way home.There are so many twists and turns to this story .What Cassidy does because she feels guilty .How she won't take a easy way to live.How she decides to be the best public defender because of Torque,how she adopted troubled children that needed someone to love but most of all how she gave everything up for guilt and for love.Will these two end up together?Will Torque ever tell her why he did what he did? I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and you can feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.I voluntarily decided to review this advanced reader copy because I know it's so worth reading.
Wow! What a wonderful story. I was a huge fan of Torque from the very beginning and his willingness to sacrifice everything for someone he loves even if the feelings are reciprocated. He serves 10 years for a crime he didn't commit and when he gets out he has nothing and has to start from scratch with a prison record. But, there are people in his corner cheering for his success.One of those, is Cassidy Kimball. She is the reason Torque went to prison and the woman he loves. Cassidy has made major sacrifices, too. Because of the guilt she feels for what happened to Torque she tries to be the best person she can be and not be sidetracked by money, fame and material things. She is trying to make a difference for those who need her help.Is it possible for these two to finally get their happy ever after or is it too late and too much water under the bridge?The character development was amazing and I had a hard time putting the book down. It was everything I enjoy in a good book. There was sweet romance with wonderful characters, clean story with no foul language or descriptive sex scenes, plenty of chemistry and a happy ending. I am excited to read Book 2 about Tough. I was given an arc copy of this book and I enthusiastically offer my review.

When Cassidy makes a catastrophic mistake, he takes the blame which lands him in prison. How do you repay someone who risked his lively hood for you. It's been ten years and now he's out. Can they pick up where they left off, will he still have the same feelings.
